Reframe Concepts

> Reframe Concepts is a Kelowna based impact, sustainability, and governance consultancy that helps land owning nonprofits, churches, and faith communities across Canada turn underused land, buildings, and community trust into lasting impact.

Important notes:

- Reframe is not a developer, a realtor, or a project manager. The firm sits on the client's side of the table and helps boards and leadership clarify vision, weigh options, and make well governed decisions about their land, buildings, and mission.

- The core question behind every engagement is whether an organization would be missed if it disappeared. Reframe calls this grievability, and treats it as the honest test of impact, more useful than activity counts like programs run or dollars raised.

- Work is organized around three pillars: impact, sustainability, and governance.

- Reframe is founded and led by Brian McKenzie and Laurence East, and works with clients across Kelowna, Vancouver, Sherwood Park, Winnipeg, and Toronto.

- Reframe respectfully acknowledges it lives and works on the traditional and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan People, and is committed to anti colonial social action.

## Company

- [Our Why](https://www.reframeconcepts.com/our-why): Reframe's founding motivation and values, including its belief that thoughtful, mission led transformation, not change for its own sake, is what allows an organization to remain indispensable to its community.

## Approach

- [Church Renewal Through Community Impact](https://www.reframeconcepts.com/church-renewal-through-community-impact): Reframe's core thesis on church renewal, citing that only 68 percent of Canadians reported a religious affiliation in 2019, down from 90 percent in 1985, and that roughly 9,000 Canadian churches, about a third of all faith owned buildings, are at risk of closing within a decade. Lays out a four step path from an inward, members only model to an outward, community centric one.

## Workshops

- [Workshops](https://www.reframeconcepts.com/workshops): Half day and full day facilitated sessions for boards and leadership teams. Reignite Your Organization's Mission and Impact focuses on clarifying purpose and direction. Financial Resilience and Resource Optimization focuses on sustainable, diversified revenue instead of grant dependency. Strengthening Leadership and Governance focuses on succession and decision making frameworks. Maximizing Community Impact and Engagement focuses on turning outward through real community partnerships.

## Our Work

- [Projects](https://www.reframeconcepts.com/projects): Real client engagements including Trinity United Church in Vernon, BC, where underused church land is advancing toward a mixed income housing community with supportive and market units, and Upper Room Mission, which Reframe helped move from a seasonal shelter to a year round housing operator, including support securing capital, land, and a new shelter opening. Also includes work with Central Okanagan United Church and other faith based and nonprofit clients across the Okanagan.
